About This Event

Breaking into a new field is hard — but it's a lot easier when you have someone in your corner. This session is about the power of mentorship in I/O Psychology, especially for Black students navigating a field where representation is still growing. We'll share practical strategies for finding mentors, building your support network, and connecting with people who can open doors for you — even if you don't know where to start.

What We'll Cover:

  • Why mentorship matters — and what it can do for your career
  • Unconventional ways to find mentors (it's not just about your professors!)
  • How to approach faculty, alumni, and industry professionals
  • Peer mentorship and online communities as a resource
  • Why representation in mentorship matters for Black students in I/O

You’ll also leave with a downloadable toolkit filled with practical tools, resources, and support materials to guide and support you throughout your I/O journey.
